I found this on the Facebook page of a friend who has adopted a child:
Adoption is not a tidy way to add to a family. Adoption is redemption, and redemption is costly.
Isn't that so true? Redemption is costly.
In Yuri's case, we're told to expect around $30,000. Yes, that's quite an expense. It could be the down payment on a house. Or it could purchase a very nice new vehicle. We could take several family vacations with such a sum, I would suppose.
As nice as those things may be, none of them are eternal. What a privilege it is to be a part of redeeming a life. To be able to take a child who has never truly known love, and share with him not only our love, but our Father's wonderful love for us. It's a price that is worth paying.
Jesus paid ever so much more to redeem us. He paid with his precious blood. I'm so thankful that Jesus was willing to pay the price to redeem us so that we could be adopted into the family of God.
Not a tidy way to add to a family, not the easy way, and not the cheapest way. But so worth it.
